Pastor’s Note – Graduation & One Parish, One Prisoner

Greetings,

God is good! As the Spring comes into full bloom, we see the blessings of fresh flowers, green grass, and growing hope around our lovely community.

As promised, this email includes photos from my recent Doctor of Ministry graduation from Portland Seminary at George Fox University. This 3-year journey came to its completion this past month, and I want to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone in our St. James community who has offered encouragement and support through the process.

I look forward to sharing more of my work on Spiritual Formation and the course I developed, Liberated Voices, which seeks to lovingly disrupt the Church from postures of silence to become people who speak up for justice and liberation in our world.

Here are some photos from our graduation celebration!

One Parish, One Prisoner – This week!

This week, we welcome Alvin Shim from Underground Ministries to share a couple of current opportunities for St. James’ congregation to connect with people who are under care of the One Parish, One Prisoner program. We will hear about how we can begin writing letters, praying for, and giving community support.

Learn more about One Parish, One Prisoner by watching the video below and come to worship Sunday ready to learn more and join this incredible project serving folks in their reentry process following incarceration.
